Man, you have to do some fact checking. He hasn’t even confirmed today. That’s just what everyone assumes.

Clearly you’re new to SOE products, as SOE always plays games with this kind of information. They’re beyond secretive and tend to tease information on unofficial services like Reddit and Twitter long before the official Press Release has cleared Community, Marketing, and SOE’s outside PR company. Thus far, SOE have not said anything officially about EQNL Alpha, just teases and coy tweets that are open to interpretation. There is no place to “fact check” because nobody will say anything on the record.

I have been running EQ2Wire for 5 years and I believe my record speaks for itself. If I had to wait for official press releases, my sites would be dead by now.

EQNL Alpha is today. Believe it or not, it’s happening.

So report them as teases? “Confirms” is a very strong word in this industry.

I will take that under advisement and air on the side of caution.

One thing I can say: SOE has tended to tell us very little about things, and so people latch onto the little dribs and drabs of info that come out and go wild interpreting it. This discourages SOE from communicating so openly and they go back to their bunker.

The only way to break past this is if SOE commits to a new companywide approach on communication.

If we got news every week from each of the game teams, in-game surveys, and developer chats, I think things would be rough for the first month as people get used to the level of communication, but then afterwards, things would run a lot smoother and people would stop accusing SOE of holding their cards so close to their chests.

I’m the EQ2flames Ranger mod. Clearly I’m not new to SOE products, Feldon. You posted that as a 100% confirmation before there was one.

Someone asked about Trailblazer purchasers. Smed replied “Stay tuned in the next 5 hours or so”. I stand by what I posted.

Nah I’m with Feldon here, Smed’s teasing is often very difficult to interpret. He sucks at communication.

I disagree I think all these hints have been to generate buzz.. such that it is… amongst the community. In this sense he has been effective . He just has to be careful, push the hints too much and he will have a backlash. Evertyon remebers by the end of januray tweet, so if we dont get in today….people will resent the hints
